Goal Setting 101

Did you know that 80 percent of people who make New Year’s resolutions give up on them by the second week of February? Research conducted by Strava using over 800 million user-logged activities in 2019 predicts the day most people are likely to give up on their New Year’s resolution is January 19th. This means many people have fallen back into their old habits and lifestyles as we speak.

Well, I want that to end today!

I’m sharing my Goal Setting 101 habits that will help you yield real results. I believe it is important to utilize the art of Goal Setting because goals give you FOCUS, they help you MEASURE progress, they help you stay MOTIVATED, they help you beat PROCRASTINATION, they help you DETERMINE what you want in life, and once you accomplish your goals, you ACHIEVE more.

Along with creating my annual Vision Board, I write out my goals for the year. This is where I focus on how I want to feel and what I would like to accomplish.

My list consists of 8 categories which are: Career, Finances, Hair & Skin, Health & Wellness, Passions, Relationships, Spiritual, and Travel. Under each category I list what I would like to accomplish by turning my resolution into a specific, measurable goal.

6 Sunday Habits For A Productive Week

6 SUnday habits

Sundays.

Sweet Sweet Sunday’s.

For most, Sunday’s are bittersweet. It seems like the week drags on, the weekend flies by, and next thing you know it’s Sunday. It’s the last day to soak up some rest, relaxation, and fun before embarking on yet another long workweek.

Personally, I love Sunday’s. It’s the one day where I can solely focus on me in a variety of ways. There’s time to cook, clean and organize my space, journal, whip up a homemade face mask, and even slide in a nap! It’s heavenly!

Growing up we followed the Sunday Routine: Church, Breakfast, Clean & Meal Prep, Nap/Relax, Dinner, Prep for the week & Wind Down. I adapted this method early on in life and utilize these habits now as an adult. Following my Sunday routine sets the tone for the week ahead.

Here are 6 habits to maximize productivity for the week!

Pause, Reflect, Create

noun

1. a temporary stop in action or speech.

When’s the last time you truly sat with yourself and took a deep breath in?

When you allowed your natural body clock to awaken you without the aid of an alarm.

When you rolled out of bed and took time for your morning skincare routine, to prepare breakfast, and drink your favorite cup of tea.

Living in the unprecedented times of COVID-19, I’ve gotten the chance to sit with myself and embrace my season of stillness.

For a while I was frustrated because I felt stuck creatively. I saw other bloggers and content creators I admired that “took advantage” of working from home and seized the moment of producing consistent content for their audience. I felt like I wasn’t doing enough to consistently engage with those who follow and read my blog. Writers block is real and I didn’t want to force myself to create for the sake of having ample time and opportunity to do so.

So, I PAUSED.

I shared my frustrations with my cousin who is my writing partner and kindred spirit. She shared that she too, hadn’t felt inspired to create during these times and reassured me that the inspiration will slap me in the face when it’s time lol.

It’s important to PAUSE and REFLECT often especially during a season of stillness.

Here are my 5 Reasons Why You Should Take A Break!
